Sims Freeplay | Prince & Pocket Sized Princess

The Sims Freeplay Christmas update is different this year as instead of a new quest or daily quests we get to take part in a new Global Community Event.  This style of event has been used before by Sims Freeplay in the spa update and it received mixed reviews from players.

The Prince and the Pocket Sized Princess event is available for 16 days and we have to work together as a global Sims Freeplay community to unlock prizes as well as unlock our own personal goals.  The aim is to collect enough flowers from the new giant flower blooms to buy/unlock different items.

For the community part of this event we just collect the flowers as normal and the flowers that everyone collects foes together to unlock new chapters of a story which unlocks a mini quest which enables us to win new fairy themed furniture.

Sims Freeplay | Halloween Update 2016

After three consecutive professions updates which many Simmers were simply not a fan of, the much awaited Sims Freeplay Halloween update 2016 has arrived on 18th October.  Unfortunately from first glance it looks like this update could be quite a disappointment for long time players.

Let's take a look at what is included with the update.

Night of the Candy Monsters Quest

As a long time player os Sims Freeplay this is the most disappointing news for me - a repeat of the Night of the Candy Monsters quest from Halloween 2015.  If you completed this last year it seems there is no new Halloween element to the game this year.  It is good news for newer players or anyone who wasn't able to complete this last year.

New feature, furniture and clothes

The new feature ties in with the professions and it is called SimTown market.  You visit the market by clicking on a board at any of the three profession locations - police station, hospital or movie studio.  It seems within this you will be able to win/trade/earn previously missed out on items.  At the time of writing when the sign is clicked on it says 'No New Events' so check back soon for more info on that one. There is also a woodworking hobby event which will give players new furniture.  It seems there are also new clothes available from the description in the app store.

Day Spa return

For anyone who missed out on the Day Spa Community Event this will make a return in this update.

Keep your eye on my YouTube channel for more updates and information on the Halloween update.

Sims Freeplay | Police Update | Professions Tutorial

The Police update arrived in Sims Freeplay on 14 June 2016 and brought with it a whole new way of going to work.  Previously we just clicked the suitcase icon and our Sims would head off to work for a few hours and return later once they had finished bringing with them some XP and simoleons.  But now that's all changed!  We now have the Police career where we actually go inside the police station and complete various activities with our Sims whilst they work (much like the Get To Work expansion pack for Sims 4)

To begin using the new professions you will need to ensure your game is updated, head out onto your town map and build the police station over by the community centre.

Once the police station is built there is a Professions tutorial quest which will guide you through how this new update works.

What do you think of the update?

Sims Freeplay | Day Spa Community Event

The Sims Freeplay released the Day Spa update on 3 May 2016 and there is a new community event for all the Simmers to take part in.  This event is similar to the Tropical Island event in the Romance update where there are personal goals and community goals.  You will need to collect 4 different gems to win new items for your game.

Watch the video for a first look at the event.

Good luck with the event and let me know what you think of this style of event.

Sims Freeplay | Easter Update Trailer

There's a new update coming to Sims Freeplay and they have just released the trailer over on their Facebook page. Usually the update arrives about a week after they release the trailer so my guess is around Tuesday 15 March 2016.

Let's take a look through the trailer.

There's not much given away from the trailer other than some cute bunny outfits for toddlers and maybe an event involving the cooking hobby.

What do you think we're going to get with this update?

Sims Freeplay | Romance Update Help

The Romance Update on 1st February 2016 has brought so many new and exciting things to Sims Freeplay it's easy to get confused.  Let's break it down and see what we need to do.

We have new Community Event which lasts 7 days.  This is the main task of the update which gives you access to the romantic, tropical island getaway but it is set out in a completely different way to all the other quests and events we have previously had.  There are a number of small tasks you need to complete before you can access the island, which include buying a banana tree and collecting some bananas.  This is all explained very well within the game so just follow along with the screen pop ups.

Once you have collected 50 bananas you can build the Sea Voyage Boat which is by the bridge on the Sim Town map.  This is pretty much an instant build and will take you over the the paradise island getaway.

The location of the Sea Voyage Boat on Sim Town map

Once you're over at the island that's when the real fun starts and it can begin to get slightly confusing.    On the island you need to begin clearing the area (similar to the Sunset Mall or restaurant clean ups) I recommend getting 10 Sims over to clear the island to complete it as fast as possible.  With each clear up you complete, you will win 'Constructor Coins' You will need these 'Constructor Coins' to build some of the areas on the island so it's important you collect them.

You need to plant fruit trees at one of your homes and get your Sims collecting them.  The first tree that is available is bananas and you will unlock the other trees as you progress throughout the event.
Collecting bananas takes 4 hrs 30 mins and you will collect 500 bananas each time.  Try to go back to your game as often as possible to collect bonus bananas.

There are 2 different progress bars - the personal progress and the community progress. each have a yellow progress bar which shows you how far away you are from your next goal.

The personal progress  tab shows the different island locations you can unlock, your current inventory of fruits and constructor coins and if you scroll down information about all the island locations.

The community progress tab is a completely new idea for Sims Freeplay.  Each time you collect fruit in your game it is added towards a big pot of fruit that the whole community of Sims Freeplay players have collected.  The yellow bar along the bottom shows how far away the whole community is from winning the next prize.  You can't complete this on your own, we have to all do it together and collect as much fruit as we can.

The prizes for the community are
  • Rustic Dining
  • Resort Dining
  • Relaxed Seats
  • Garden Bar
  • Outdoor Set
  • Beach Wear
Even if you complete all your personal goals quickly you should continue collecting fruit as you will be helping out the SPF community to win those prizes.

A big change for this event is that speeding up tasks costs Social Points instead of Lifestyle Points.

I will be updating this with any new information as I work through the quest but please feel free to ask any questions you may have about the event or head over to my YouTube channel where I'll be posting regular update videos.

Sims Freeplay | Romantic Getaway Update is released

The Sims Freeplay Romantic Getaway update has been released worldwide and is available in the App Store.

I've updated my game and the information I can give you at the moment is that we have a single icy door, Jacks Icy Door available for 3,000 simoleons.  There will be a pop up when you enter the game for the first time after the update which tells you your Sims can now get married at any location and another pop up that says Woodworking is now available from level 6.

There is a new location on Sim Town map which is a boat that can take us off to a Tropical Romance Island but, at the time of writing, there is nothing we can do but to wait for the next event.

Sims Freeplay | Romantic Update Trailer

There's a new update coming to Sims Freeplay and they have just released the trailer over on their Facebook page. Usually the update arrives about a week after they release the trailer so my guess is Tuesday 2 Feb 2016.

Let's take a look through the trailer.

From the looks of it it seems we might get
  • wedding ceremonies
  • volleyball hobby
  • maybe a jogging hobby
  • new swimwear
  • MERMAIDS!!!
Anyone else as excited about the whole mermaid thing as I am? What are your thoughts on the trailer and the update? What would you like to see in the game?

UPDATE

Here's what EA say about the new update and what we'll get.

  • Take your valentine to an unforgettable paradise on Tropical Romance Island
  • Be transformed into a mermaid or merman and make a splash in the crystal clear Mermaid Reef
  • Create the beachside wedding of your dreams, surrounded by friends and family, as they watch you say 'I do' on the sand
  • Find inner peace with a morning yoga session in your own hidden bungalow
  • Dine about the water and feast your eyes on your beloved during a romantic candlelit dinner
  • Serenade your sweetheart at a romantic beach bonfire
  • Snuggle up and gaze at the stars - and your true loves eyes - in a hammock built for two

Sims Freeplay | Animal Onesie Event

The Sims Freeplay Animal Onesie Event begins at midnight on 19 January 2016.  There is a time limit of 7 days and you have the chance to win 6 different animal onesies for your adult male and female Sims (12 onesies in total).

To compete in this event you must have completed the Puppy Odyssey quest as you will need to complete the Internet Kitten hobby which is unlocked by completing this quest.

Some tips for completing this event within the 7 days
  • buy 3 Kitten Playmats from the Promotions R Us Store and have 3 Sims in your town working on the hobby
  • find a neighbour with a Kitten Playmat and have another Sim working on the hobby in a neighbours town (so 4 Sims in total working on the hobby)
  • get at least 1 Sim up to level 6 in the Kitten Internet hobby
  • Remember to reset the collection each time you fill it!
  • Do the 'Kitten Snippet' option for 1 hr 15 mins over and over
